But rest assured Auto CAD will still be around for a good long time because each and every program that Auto Desk creates uses the Auto CAD base engine for its foundation. I have used Inventor and you are right it has come a long way from its conception. Currently I take 3d drawings and import them into ACAD and do what is needed. Auto CAD was developed to be modified by the customer in any configuration needed through lisp, scripts apps etc. Revit allows imports to it’s drawings using Auto CAD base engine. Revit, Civil 3d, MEP and even Inventor can now all collaborate with each other by the use of the Auto CAD base engine. Yes there are companies that now use Inventor 3d for fabrication, however you miss the point that Auto CAD will never go away due to the ability of its programmable engine. Michael I agree what you said up to a point.

This is exaclty what happened starting with the 2015 release, the AutoCAD Classic Workspace option was removed from the program.īut what if I don’t love the ribbon? How can I get my AutoCAD Classic Workspace back? This is one of the most common questions I get and the good news is that we can fairly quickly and easily bring back the interface that you’re used to.īy default, your screen should look something like this:Ĭlick here or on the image to see a larger version How to restore AutoCAD classic workspace All of the tools that I need are right where I expect them to be, until of course Autodesk decides that I love the ribbon and no longer need my classic toolbars. If you are not familiar with annotative scaling, you might want to read this basic tutorial and how to control annotation scaling further.Everyone knows and loves the AutoCAD Classic Workspace, for most of us its how we learned, it’s familiar and comforting. Add if you don’t see it yet.Īfter you click OK, you should see the dimension now! In opened dialog box, check if the annotation scale is listed. Now select the dimension, and check the scale list in properties palette. The dimensions don’t have the active scale in the dimension scale list. Annotation Scaleīut most likely the missing dimensions is because the dimension is using annotative style. If you see the layer properties overridden and you suspect it are used by the dimension, try to unfreeze it.
Open layer properties manager, then check if there any VP Freeze properties.
Open layout tab, double click the viewport you want to check for problem. If it’s true, most likely it is because the AutoCAD drawing has frozen layers in that viewport. First, AutoCAD now allow us to override layer properties for each viewport. There are two possibilities why this happen. This problem become an AutoCAD regular problem, so I thought I should share it here. Both are showing the same part from my AutoCAD drawing, I can see annotations in my left viewport, but I don’t see the annotations in the right viewport. Annotation objects can be dimensions, texts, hatches, and even blocks. But somehow you can’t see them in the other AutoCAD viewports. When you examine the AutoCAD drawing in model space, and in some viewports, everything looks OK. When you open AutoCAD layout, do you ever found your dimensions (or other annotation objects) are missing in some viewports? I saw many threads about this issue like this one in AutoCAD forum.
